Discover Shorewood Elementary PTA

Welcome to the Shorewood PTA

The Shorewood PTA is a community of caring volunteers who work together to support the health, well-being, and educational needs of all Shorewood Elementary students. We’re parents, guardians, teachers, and staff who believe that every child deserves a strong, supportive, and inclusive school community.

Our History

Founded in 1956, Shorewood Elementary PTA has a long and proud history of providing an exceptional education to students of all ages. Over the years, we have adapted and evolved to meet the changing needs of our students and community, while remaining true to our core values.

Our Mission

Our mission is to support the health, well-being, and educational needs of all Shorewood students.

We do more than put on FUN events like our Craft Bazaar, Multicultural Night, Math Adventure, and Spring Carnival.
We also provide:

  • Art education and supplies through our Art Docent Program
  • Interactive learning tools like BrainPOP
  • Money for field trips & assemblies
  • Library books and literacy resources
  • Tools for English Language Learners
  • A Student Clothing Pantry for when students need additional clothes at school
  • Playground Equipment like balls and outdoor activities
  • Classroom snacks and
  • Staff “wish list” items (like our teacher supplies, a school defibrillator, and recess equipment!)

It’s a joy for us to also give a free Shorewood T-shirt, a birthday pencil, and free popcorn once a month to every Shorewood student and staff member!

What the PTA Does

The PTA’s work is powered entirely by volunteers and funded by community donations, fundraisers, and grants.
Our focus areas include:

  • Supporting student learning and enrichment
  • Building community connections through events and programs
  • Ensuring equitable access for all families
  • Recognizing and supporting teachers and staff

How the PTA Works

The Shorewood PTA is a nonprofit organization made up of dues-paying members. Membership is open to anyone who cares about our students—parents, grandparents, guardians, teachers, and community members.

Our general meetings are held throughout the school year and are open to everyone. Members vote on the PTA’s budget, programs, and board elections, helping guide how funds are spent and priorities are set.  You can see a schedule of all of our general meetings here.

Get Involved

Whether you have five minutes or five hours, there’s a way for everyone to participate!
You can:

  • Become a PTA member
  • Volunteer at events or in the classroom
  • Become and Art Docent
  • Help plan fundraisers or programs
  • Attend a meeting to share ideas
  • Make a donation to support our students

Every contribution—big or small—makes a difference.
